Almerin C. O'Hara was a career officer in the United States Army. A longtime member of the New York Army National Guard, he attained the rank of major general and served as commander of the 27th Armored Division and as Adjutant General of New York. O'Hara was a veteran of World War II, and his military awards and decorations included the Army Distinguished Service Medal, Silver Star, Bronze Star Medal with oak leaf cluster, and Combat Infantryman Badge.
